Classic Halal Beef Burger

Serves: 2
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 400g Halal beef mince (15-20% fat)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 burger buns, halved and toasted
  • Lettuce leaves, for garnish
  • 2 slices of tomato, for garnish
  • 2 slices of red onion, for garnish
  • Slices of cheese (optional, ensure Halal compliance)
  • Condiments of choice (e.g., ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard; ensure Halal compliance)

Instructions:

  1. Form Patties: Divide the beef mince into two equal portions. Gently shape each portion into a patty that’s about 1.5 cm thick. Press a slight indentation in the centre of each patty with your thumb to help it cook evenly and prevent bulging.
  2. Season: Season both sides of each patty generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook Patties: Heat a grill pan or frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 3-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for well-done. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  4. Assemble Burgers: On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a slice of red onion. Add the cooked beef patty on top, then any additional condiments as desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
  5. Serve: Serve immediately, accompanied by your choice of side, such as fries or a salad.
