how to cook Halal Tomahawk Steak

Ingredients:

    • 1 Halal Tomahawk Steak
    • Kosher salt
    • Freshly ground black pepper
    • Olive oil
    • Optional: garlic, rosemary, or thyme for extra flavor.
      Instructions:Prepare the Steak:

        • Take the Halal Tomahawk Steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This allows for more even cooking.

      Season the Steak:

        • Season the steak generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper on both sides. You can also add some olive oil to create a flavorful crust. Optionally, you can rub the steak with minced garlic or sprinkle some fresh rosemary or thyme for added flavor.

      Preheat the Grill or Pan:

        • If you're using a grill, preheat it to high heat. If you're using a stovetop pan, heat it over high heat until it's smoking hot.

      Sear the Steak:

      For a grill: Place the steak directly over the high heat and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Make sure to close the grill lid during cooking.

    • For a stovetop pan: Add a high-heat oil (like canola or grapeseed oil) to the pan and sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side.

Move to Indirect Heat:

    • For a grill: Move the steak to the cooler side of the grill (indirect heat) and close the lid. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness.
    • For a stovetop pan: Transfer the steak to a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and roast for about 10-15 minutes. You can use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Aim for 130-140°F (54-60°C) for medium-rare to medium.

Rest the Steak:

    • Once the steak reaches your desired doneness, remove it from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicy and tender result.

Slice and Serve:

  • Slice the Halal Tomahawk Steak against the grain into thick, generous cuts. The bone makes for an impressive presentation. Serve with your choice of sides and sauces, like garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, or a peppercorn sauce.
